“Goodbye Tension, Hello Pension” –
that was the beautifully designed balloon made by Pastor Joanne and the team to
give a surprise celebration party to SLing. I must thank Pastor Joanne and the
team for really taking the effort to make the dinner cum celebration last night
such a wonderful and memorable night for SLing. All in all, it was pretty rush
for all of us and I must embossed my gratefulness and love to all the people
who came to give SLing such a rousing tribute.
Peeling the week before it, Pastor
Joanne had texted me to prepare a slide show of pictures for Soon Ling and I
must admit that I was up to my nose and forehead deep with the never ending
work. However, I took it all in and tried my best to come up with the best that
I could muster and I finally did it after slogging it out till the wee hours of
the morning. I have learnt that as I got into the flashback mode especially
looking at the photographs for the slide show, it does brings out a flood of
nice memories. Looking at the lives that we had the opportunity to touch and
lives that touched our lives, I can only have a tint of tears in my eyes and a very
grateful heart. Maybe, I am getting old with this sort of things but pictures do tell a thousand words. They sure bring a good flood of memories...anytime...anyday....
So, I did two slide shows of family
theme and friends theme. I guess, it is difficult to separate them both as
friends had become like family to us and how much joy and love they bring to
our lives! So, thank you so much, my beloved friends ; family.
Anyway, seeing SLing being surprised
and happy was the best gift, I guess. She was sorta shell-shocked by the shouts
of “ SURPRISE!” and the eager rush of Sophia Joy, Caitlyn and Ethan Sim to hand
her the beautifully crafted balloon followed by very warm hugs by all who had attended the impromptu party surprise! What a great
welcome indeed! Then, the hugs appeared from Pastor Joanne, Sis.Evelyn, Auntie
Wong, Sis.Lorna, Loreen, Esther, Jaclyn, Dorin, Abby, Bee Ling, Annie, Jarren,
Lara and the list goes on. What a wonderful sight, actually!
For once, I could
see a wide smile etched across SLing’s lips and the shinning glow of joy on her
face. It brought a lot of joy in my heart for SLing had gone through so much
over the years and God has sustained her thus far is just simply supernatural. I
have seen a great transformation in SLing for whatever she had to go through
and she had certainly been far better than what she had been all these years. Even when it comes with speaking with people and so on, she has definitely grown in leaps and bounds. I guess, in many ways, Pst Geoffrey's weekend sermon was apt and on the dot that we have to love God supernaturally because He first love us supernaturally.
All in all, smiles, laughter and heart warming moments were all around. That makes the occasion so much special despite that it was a Monday night. So, thank you for all the well wishes and the great food fare. It was certainly such a delight to be with friends whom we have regarded as family.
