Amidst the human perfume of sweat, slight stench from overwork bodies, humanly aromas and sticky; humid and airless night, tonight will be a night to remember for a long time. With shouts of "Reformasi" ," Hidup Hidup, Hidup Rakyat" and "Pakatan Harapan " still ringing loudly in my ears, mind and lingers at the base of my indepth skull, I am excited, thrilled and pumped up. I am talking of the Pakatan Harapan Political Rally 2018 at Bukit Piatu Mutiara tonight.
What makes this occasion special was the fact that I wanted to be here together with Soon Ling and SYuen as this would be their inaugural political rally. This is the carnival like yet serious toned political rally and what a significance indeed. If for 61 years , the Opposition have always had this inferiority complex of "not winning" syndrome mentality, well, tonight's reception was a complete game changer. I've not seen such a huge crowd and I meant, really huge crowd, attending a political rally or political ceramah. It was an energetic, pulsating and lively rally with various speakers taking turns to say their piece in the allocated time given.
Kudos to the organisers for trying their best to keep the crowd at their best behaviour and no untoward incidences. There was skirmishes but it is all part and parcel of a growing crowd that were at the rally and not miss the chance of seeing the Malaysian legend of politics, Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohammed. It was a momentous moment indeed for me. Never mind my political bend because I've been vocal for the Opposition even in my younger days as I just couldn't stand these injustices in our country. Tonight rally, well, it belonged to the Rakyat! The night rally wasn't short of its hype and billing indeed. Political stalwarts like Tun Dr. Mahathir, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah, Sdr. Hishamuddin Rais ( from Bersih HQ), Tun Daim Zainuddin, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Sdr. Mohamad Sabu @Mat Sabu, Sdr. Lim Guan Eng, Sdr. Shamsul Iskandar, Sdr. Khoo Poay Tiong, Sdr. Tey Kok Kiew, Sdr. Mohd Redzuan Yusof, Prof Madya Rusnah and many others were there on the stage tonight. It was truly a great effort to get as many candidates as possible for this rally.
The night definitely belonged to Tun Dr.Mahathir and the rakyat of Melaka. It was a strong show of support for Pakatan Harapan if their support is translated into votes on 9th May, 2018. In my heart, I truly and honestly felt that tonight's attendance would be translated to votes of change on 9th May, 2018! My beloved country , Malaysia is facing a crisis of weak and corrupt leaders today. I pray that a change of government and a wave of change would come and it is already done.

To the naysayers, it is always better to stick to the known corruptors but to me " a devil is a devil" and ought to be banished and flung out from our society. Our ailing country today is hopelessly ridiculed as a kleptocratic and corrupted nation. What a shame indeed! Despite our richness in natural resources and trading capacity, the citizens of this country stay divided in socio-economy , low in income and struggle to make ends month after month. Despite all these lacking, I am blessed today when I saw the turnout of the people who wants a change in this nation. Change we must or else we would be plundered to the Dark Ages! As days goes by, the kitty chest is being raided day after day and it would be a monumental task for the Pakatan Harapan team to try to give what is best for the people when they takeover the reigns of the Govt. Right now, it seemed hopeless as we continue to see the Govt of the past banners, flags and even fliers being put up and distributed. However, we can make it. We need to leave our comfort zones and move on in life. Challenge the Govt of the day through the Ballot Paper!
Tonight , as I looked at Tun Dr.Mahathir at the stage speaking his heart out, I cannot imagine a 93 year old legend standing up there. He could have all the comfort of his heart desires but yet he came out of retirement and from his very pedestal of comfort to help Pakatan Harapan to win GE14 and form a new govt of the day. I was so pumped up and encouraged knowing that everyone is doing their part to form a new transparent government. Tun Dr. M could have just be sipping a cup of coffee, munch some Chocolate chips cookies, play with grandchildren and read a real good book but instead of all these, he joined the road show to show the importance of getting together and built a new and better Malaysia. He was so energetic despite doing road shows after roads show for Pakatan Harapan. It was indeed a rare moment and one I shall not forget as I get to see this Malaysian legend at his witty and usual self in politics. I have great admiration and respect for this 93 year old man indeed.
The other thing I have come to accustomed with is the fact that these Pakatan Harapan fellas always pass the bag along seeking donations and support halfway through the rally. I really do get it because the parties in Pakatan Harapan are not cash rich and could splurged around getting big banners, more flags and more buntings up. As the donation bags were passed around last night, I did my part and donated what I had. It wasn't a big sum but everyone at the rally did their part. I learned this long time ago when I had the opportunity to attend DAP dinner functions. Never miss a beat in donating for a good cause! I guess, tonight, I see everyone doing their bit of donation for Pakatan Harapan and I believe there is hope in our nation. So often during our drive along the roads, SLing would ask me why aren't there many Pakatan Harapan flags and buntings unlike the BN abundance. Both of us knew the answer simply because we had the opportunity to attend fund raising dinners by Opposition parties and we know how tight finance can be. Well, who cares more posters, more flags or more buntings because what is important is CHANGE /UBAH or 1758 ( in Mandarin "Ee Chee U Bah "- thank you to my Mandarin speaking friends for telling me this! )

The crowd is huge..... |
Many hours of road jam later, here I am penning my thoughts of what I felt in my heart and what I've witnessed. Waves and waves of people line the streets and main roads to hear the PH leaders speak and cheered loudly every time they spoke of change. I pumped my fist in the air! I clapped! I cheered! My heart is lifted up with joy and expectations. I will never know when I will be able to get such a chance again but I believe now is the time for change. There is no better time than GE14. I have always believed in miracles and the ways of the Lord.
