Audi Dream Farm

Being back in Penang for holidays seemed the most viable thing to do after a grueling year. Afterall, Penang has that charm to cater for your relaxation needs. Yeah, the  car drivers and motorcyclists are still horrifically reckless as usual but somehow I felt a sense of difference this time. Maybe it is because I wasn't driving but being driven around! ( Ah! That's the trick for intact sanity! ) My sis, Lee Lee took the time to ferry us around during the break and it was such great time to be with her again and my son, JWee and his mate, Felicia.

By the time I arrived in Penang , it was already at 1.30am and the cool breeze hits you easily and it was such a nice feeling. After a good night sleep, we were off to Audi Dream Farm, Balik Pulau knowing my love for organic, natural and good farm but not before a hearty breakfast. We had to use the ever reliable Waze apps to get there but that is truly the fun indeed.

We arrived quite early and the entrance was rather rustic looking. My sister paid the entrance fee of about RM 7.00 each and we were given a feeding basket comprising of two cucumbers, a pack of bird seeds, a pack of rabbit food and a pack of  bread cut left overs to feed the animals. So, off we went to explore the farm.

The first noticeable thing that hit your sight sensory glands are the lush, plump and yellowish sunflowers! Absolutely a feast for the eyes! From here on, it could only get better, I guess and it did! We then went in to the aviary pent whereby the multi-colored parakeets flew around. When we opened up the bird seeds pack, the birds flew in quickly to us sending a loud scream of delight from SLing. The birds pecked at the bird seeds in our hands. It was such a wonderful feeling indeed. Everyone enjoyed that experience a lot.

Moving on, we saw lovely guinea pigs in a row together with rabbits. They seemed like hungry little delightful monsters but very lovely indeed. But what impressed me was the variety of pigeons species. Yeah, huge and segmented cages bore some of the finest looking pigeon species. Such pompous pose and pageantry of the pigeons but truly unique. Too many species to name but I found it extremely wonderful to see such beautiful pigeons. Seriously, I really thought they looked good dressed being roasted with a tint of butter, a slight touch of rosemary, pepper and salt! Yummy yum! But that's a different story, huh?

Well, moving on, we moved nicely along to the fish ponds with some nice looking tilapia fishes and patin fish. Nice dinner plate size fishes! Like I said, looking at the fishes bring flashes of fried tilapia with soya sauce and steamed patin with scallions and tinge of sesame oil! Hahahahahaaaaaaa.....this is an organic farm , mind you. So, everything is edible! Ponies were also available but they aren't well kept nor kept clean. The stench of urine and heap of dungs can be quite a challenge but fertilizers are fertilizers, right? By the way, the ponies are healthy but desperately needed bathing, man!

Feeding the baby goats were the next on the list. They are so cute and lovely. These goats were really fine looking goats......like I said, everything looked like food to me , though! Yeah, mutton varuval or sup kambing sure sounds yummy at that time!

Then there are the duck, goose and geeses - Boy! They are loud and nasty little monsters! Feeding them can be quite a task as they would like send out loud sounds and if I deciphered it right, it would be , " Alright people! Food had arrived! ". Yup, that ought to sound right indeed! They would follow you in droves and make such loud noises! Now, I know why thieves would not steal goose and geeses as they are loud, bro! Really really loud! But as they glided in the water, you could see how graceful they did it!

I guess, the lovely part of the farm is that it is still an organic farm which rows of rich earth beds with vegetables like bayam, sawi, lettuce, Chinese salad plant, kangkong, ladies fingers, plus overhanging winter melons, gourd, kacang panjang, markisa fruit trees, lime trees and even lemon trees. It was amazing to see so much being done in a place like this. Truly a nice place for farming and getting a lot of things done organically.

Finishing off the trip to this farm was a glass of cool & cold barley drink with blueish bunga telang. That was fantastic indeed! Never knew, that drink has it own great properties for the body. It was a great day and we really had a great time there. The smiles, the laughter and memories of being together made it all so worthwhile indeed.

Yeah, if you are heading to Penang for holidays, don't miss this place. It will bring you a lot of memories of how much you miss life in the simple manner. It was great start of the day. Off we go to our next adventure - Botanica Mansion!
