Paints......

Whenever we think of commercial paints, we would normally associate them with ICI paints, Nippon paints, Berger paints and many others. There are also paints for artists and dyes for printing and so on. These are some of the household established names when associated with paints. I had the opportunity to visit a marine paint manufacturer the other day.
Yup, the paints are mainly manufactured for ship/vessel painting. Interesting, isn't it? I was really astounded by the meticulous and proper planning in producing such paints. It was interesting enough to see the amount of work and planning but to see the lab carrying out test after test upon their products is something worth mentioning. Well, in all honesty, I don't really know if their products were the best paints in town but I was told that the paints are sold at RM 150.00 per litre. That's mighty big price to pay but I was told that it was worth it because you can be assured of the quality stuff and so on.

However, I was a little bit shocked over the need to wash up/ take a bath completely before going out for lunch/rest and also, when one goes back home after work. Mind you, they do this everyday, man ! The reason for this is the chemicals used in producing the paints were "health scaring a bit"! Afterall, it is for the ships and vessels moving on the high seas and pushing the boundaries of man & machines etc.etc. [ getting a bit theatrical now! ~some "kan chiong" music background !! ] Anyway, somebody has got to produce stuff like this, right? ~ for the good of all mankind; so that the imported stuff can reach us from one continent to another, blah!blah!blah!.
Well, the next time you lift up an imported stuff from the shelf, have a thought for those people who produce the paints that enabled the ship/vessel to sail the seven seas just to ensure you people can lift up the stuff and before you say...............,

" Aiyooh! So expensive, ah?"
